Fillings/Restorations

Today’s dentistry offers a number of dental filling options. If you need to have a tooth filled, your dentist will discuss which option or options will work best for you.

Composite Restorations

Composite restorations, sometimes called “white fillings’, are generally used where a conservative tooth preparation is indicated and/or it is preferred due to cosmetic reasons.

Depending on your specific clinical needs and your cosmetic preferences, resin-based composite restorations may be your best option.

Amalgam Fillings

Amalgam fillings, also known as “silver fillings”, may be used as indicated by the tooth structure and amount of decay present.

In some cases an amalgam filling may best fit your needs both from a clinical and a cost standpoint.

Inlays / Onlays

An inlay or onlay may be an option in cases where more than half of the tooth’s biting surface is damaged.

Please review this option under the “patient cosmetic services” tab.
