Implants

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Implants can help you regain the ability to eat virtually anything and smile with confidence.

The implants are small titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing and protrude through the gums. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Pre Treament Evaluation

A dental and radiographic exam, including a review of your health history, will be conducted by our dentists and our periodontal specialist Dr. Levenson. Your questions and concerns are important to us, and our team will work with you to help make your procedure a success.

Implant Procedure

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually bonding with the jawbone. During this time, you should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Levenson will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. An impression will be taken, and our dentists will make your new teeth, which may include bridgework, dentures or crowns, that will be connected to the implants.

The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months.
